Explanations
A Folk/Rock piece that focuses the piano. Essentially, the lyrics are asking, "What makes me who I am and where do I fit into the Universe." The chorus goes, "I want someone to explain the universe to me." Hinting that if I could understand the physical world around me I could understand what makes me who I am. Buddhism teaches that possesing a "RIGHT MIND" is important to reaching Nirvana. For me it seems to be the first step towards enlightment.

Tried To Join The Peace Corps
At first glance this song seems to fluctuate in meaning. It begins with a true event where I tried to join the peace corps and they told me I needed two years of college first and I ask, "How much do I need to know to look at my Family(humanity) and say man you deserve more." Then it takes the point of view of more enlightend person answering this question with a riddle. The last two versus are from the same point of view addressing humanity as a whole.

Upon Meeting Jesus
Half-broken guitars, rusty strings, hand me down amps and borrowed basses, pianos with dead keys (always in the middle of course), pirated software! and cheap pre-amps with USB ports, on the spot songs (improv makes for excitement), paper towels on bongos + bass boosters make for a neat drum sound, stolen kazoos, late nights or early mornings (sleep deprivation), notebooks and notebooks full of lyrics (I have 100's of songs), taped conversations, home videos turned sound effects, rusty tambourines (not to be confused with rusty trombones), computer savvy, old processors with limited ram and broken monitors that make your amp go "BUZZZZ!!!!!", everything from NES ZAP guns (intro of "A Diagram To The Stars") to oscillating fan blades ("Piano Dust") to Greg Dorris ("Such is the Fate of the Cynical"), tape recorders and penny whistles, lo-fi for lo-fi's sake (somebodies gotta stand up for the little people), Deoxyribonucleic acid, a fascination with space, relationships sheeeeesh, NES and guitar hero, hookahs and Jack Daniels and freaking Ouzo, Salvador Dali Bill Hicks T Rex, cross country trips and arrest records, nothing matters but making records.
"Josh Petty radiates a unique folk rock sound doused in whimsical tragedy as his curious perceptions unravel into songs which seem to reveal very personal observations about the world and its disillusioning tendencies. In this his songs are relatable and honest, just." - AeroPlainJane
oh well, enough of that. Please use this music in your art. Please include it and spread it around. I want to be viewed as a champion for CC. I want be seen as a supporter for my beliefs, as being a person true to his heart and not subject to the views of the community. I am who i am and you are who you are. If we listen to each other we will find things we didn't know.
