Major changes in place right now: better browsing with expanded genres and tags; podcast/RSS 2.0 feeds for every artist; the ability for everyone to manage their own artist information. The most important difference is that now Opsound has a platform to build on.
In the (very) near future, feeds will be expanded to include genres, tags, and recent songs as well as the front page blog. A renewed discussion forum should also be in place soon (already is!). A little further out, we have lots of good ideas, and you probably do too -- as soon as the forum is back up we'll make a topic for feature requests.
We're still bringing some of the older information into the new system. Info on events like Launch Option:Berlin will be back online soon.
The jukebox was part of a test of different systems for making an opradio. Basically, the shoutcast-style opstream won out over the flash-player jukebox. If you really miss the jukebox, let me know.
The forum's back! - it's under "talk" on the menu to your left. We changed forum software so all passwords for user accounts will need to be reset -- click login, and choose "forgot your password?" and a new password will be sent to the email address you registered with.
How to I manage my info for artists and songs already in your new system?
Easy. Just register as a new user, and then email me with your username and a list of the artists that belong to you. I'm pretty familiar with most of the artists in the system, so I should be able to match you up easily and prevent identity problems. [NOTE: you only need to do this if your music was on Opsound before the new system was in place (summer 2005 and earlier]
Songs with dead links were not added to the new system, but of course we'd love to have them back. Please register, and once your user account is linked to your band/artist you'll be able to add the songs back in.
Only artists with active song links were transfered into the new system. If you're not here, it means all your links had died. But we'd love to have you back! Please register and add your artist & songs, and you will be restored.
What about links to my old artist page?
We've individually redirected each of the old artist's pages to the corresponding page in the new system. Old links to your page should work, but of course it's a good idea to update them as soon as is convenient.
